About Mike Stanko
Mike Stanko, a lifelong Long Islander, began painting and showing his unique and whimsical art work over 30 years ago. From Stanko's home in Valley Stream, to the beaches of Long Island and the world beyond, he is inspired by countless iconic images such as sunflowers, beach scenes and even grilled cheese sandwiches, and paints them with bright fields of color, all in his signature eye-catching style. Stanko's work remains buoyant and optimistic, with a subtle, wicked sense of humor. Ultimately, Stanko's paintings are reflective of the man himself - colorful, generous, sparkling with wit and plain old fun.
Stanko's paintings have been exhibited throughout the tri-state area, including shows at the prestigious Elaine Benson Gallery in Bridgehampton, and the Empire State Building in New York City. He has been interviewed numerous times on television, in newspapers, and magazines. Stanko has donated his artwork to many causes over the years including Breast Cancer walks, Art for ALS, and The Waterkeeper Alliance, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Ronald McDonald House.
